Programs Office Staff
Mikki Frazier, Director of Program
As the Director of Programs at Head-Royce School, Mikki Frazier manages the After-School, Summer Program and collaboratively oversees the Heads Up Program. In this role, she is responsible for the long-term vision planning and implementation for all auxiliary programs and identifying strategic partnerships between these programs and the greater Oakland community. Prior to arriving at Head-Royce in 2007, she served as the Director of Special Programs at Sacramento Country Day School where she successfully reinstated the Summer Program after a 10-year hiatus.
Mikki attended college locally at Holy Names University. During her time, she was nominated captain of the women's basketball team and served as the student body president and valedictorian. Upon graduating, she immediately pursued her graduate studies at the University of San Francisco, studying sport and fitness management. Her education, love of children and recreational/athletic background prepared her well for developing dynamic programming aimed at providing opportunities to explore interests, facilitate social-emotional growth and promote resiliency and perseverance.
Elizabeth Solis, Associate Director of Programs; Director of Heads Up Program
Bay Area native Liz Solis (Ms. Solis) has been working with youth for over a fifteen years as a mentor, advocate, and educator. She received her Bachelor’s in Social Science (with an emphasis in Ethnic Studies) from San Francisco State University and as a MetLife Fellow received her Master’s in the Art of Teaching (M.A.T.) in Secondary Education History from Tufts University.
Before joining Head-Royce, Liz was principal at ARISE High School, a small independent charter in the Fruitvale. In that role, Liz collaborated with the Board of Directors, staff, students and families to advance the vision and mission of the school, and to ensure the school’s fiscal, physical, and academic health. She also led a school staff that worked to evolve and sustain a core program focused on college preparation, knowledge of self, critical consciousness raising, youth leadership and empowerment for over 260 East Oakland students.
As the new Director of Heads Up and Associate Director of Programs, Liz is excited to continue developing the thoughtful, intentional, and innovative programming established by Mr. Moore while continuing to build the legacy of Heads Up in Oakland. As the daughter of immigrants and a woman of color, she is committed to empowering students who have been historically underserved and marginalized within our educational system. In addition, her greatest accomplishment is being the proud mother of three.

Phillip ParkerThis is my third year as an ASP counselor and I just finished my fifth year working during the HRS summer camp counselor. I am a California state certified EMT and I am in the process of becoming an Oakland Fire Fighter. I am excited to return as an ASP counselor and to continue to work with the kids during the school year.
I have been working at the Head Royce Summer Program for four years. This is my first year with ASP and I am so excited to join the team. I was also in the heads up program for four years before I came a summer program counselor. I recently graduated from Oakland Tech High School. I’m really looking forward to meeting these kids and seeing what this school year has in store.
Joshua (JJ) Crum
This upcoming year will be my fifth year working in the After School Program here at Head Royce. I have worked in the Summer Program as well for approximately seven years and I enjoy being around the Head Royce community year round. I am currently a graduate student at Holy Names University in Oakland, where I am studying counseling psychology in hopes of working with athletes and individuals who deal with different challenges in mental health.
I have been working at Head Royce ASP for twelve years and Summer camp for 10 years. The time has completely gone way too fast with all fun that I’ve had with this amazing Head Royce community. There is no better feeling then waking up and being excited to head to your job every day and that’s the exact sentiment I’ve had while I’ve been working at Head Royce. When I am not here I enjoy doing graphic design/ animation in many capacities. Furthermore, I enjoy playing sports and attending sporting events when I can.

I am a returning Heads-up alumni, as well as, returning ASP counselor. I recently completed my 6th year as a Head Royce camp counselor and will be starting my 2nd year working at ASP. Before I started working here at Head Royce as a counselor, I attended the Heads-up summer camp for all of my middle school years. I am excited to work this year with all the returning kids, as well as getting to meet all of the new kids.

I am Head Royce and UC Santa Cruz graduate and have been working in ASP on and off for six years. I am excited to work in ASP this school year because ASP offers the unique opportunity to positively impact children’s lives outside of the normal classroom space. This year I am particularly excited to teach engineering and problem-solving skills in the maker lab space, to inspire creativity, and a help students engage with the environment and nature, both locally, and globally.

I am a Heads-up alum that has working in the summer program for 4 years. This is my second year working in asp and I’m excited to be hopefully giving the students in asp the amazing experience that I’ve had in my years here at Head Royce. Last year I had a lot of fun playing four square with the kids. I really enjoy working with the kids here at head Royce and am happy to be returning for another year in the program.
