Mike Talps has been a member of the Head-Royce Faculty since 1980. He is an instructor in the Physical Education Department, head coach for the Upper School Boy’s Varsity Baseball and Girl’s Varsity Basketball teams. Mike is an active member in the American Baseball Coaches Assn., Californai Baseball Coaches Assn, and the Womens Basketball Coaches Assn. A 2-time NCS Honor Coach award winner, he was selected for Boys baseball in 1995 and Girls basketball in 1999. He was honored by the Oakland Tribune as its baseball coach of the year in 2003. In 2004 he was selected as the American Baseball Coaches Assn United States Western Regional Coach of the year in baseball. Mike was selected as the recipient of the Trainor Family Fellowship Award in 2004. He currently holds his FCC Class A license and is a Certified CPR/First Aid Instructor. Mike received his B.A. degree from St Mary’s College in Diversified Liberal Arts in 1980. He and his wife Lori reside in Richmond.
