Middle School Girls Lacrosse
A 1988 graduate of Head-Royce, Brendan Blakeley has been the Director of Athletics at the school since 2009. During that time he has taught middle school Physical Education, 9th grade Health, and served as Physical Education Department Chair. Brendan has coached many teams at the School, including upper school men’s varsity basketball, men’s frosh/soph basketball, and women’s varsity tennis. At the middle school level, he’s coached 6th grade girls volleyball, and girls lacrosse.
Prior to taking over the Athletics Department for the Jayhawks, Brendan was the Director of Athletics at The Urban School (San Francisco) from 2004–2009, where he earned the Norm Mackenzie Award for Distinguished Leadership from the North Coast Conference; and prior to that he was the Assistant Athletic Director at Head-Royce from 2001-2004. Brendan began his coaching career at UC Davis, where he was the head coach of the women’s lacrosse program from 1993-2001. A three-time Regional Coach of the Year nominee, he lead the Aggies to a top 10 finish in the NCAA Division II rankings for four straight seasons.Brendan has a master’s degree from Saint Mary’s College, and received his undergraduate degree from UC Davis. He and his wife, Jennifer, have two daughters, and count their dog, Rosie, as an official fifth member of their family.
