Application Process

The Head-Royce application process begins each fall for the next school year for all grade levels. Candidates are urged to apply early. Decisions are released in March, with acceptances occasionally offered after based on availability of space.

Head-Royce uses a web-based application called Ravenna to manage submission of applications. Through Ravenna applicants are able to fill out required forms, submit supplemental application materials, and track application progress. New users will need to create an account with Ravenna. Returning users can log into their existing account using their username and password.

Enrollment for the Fall of 2025 applicants are required to take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) for grades 2–5 and 9–12.

Application Deadlines for Fall 2025 School Year

December 5, 2024: Grades K–8 Preliminary Application Form and application fee must be submitted in Ravenna.

December 5, 2024: Grades 9–12 Preliminary Application Form and application fee must be submitted in Ravenna.

January 9, 2025: Grades K–8 Completed applications due.

January 9, 2025: Grades 9–12 Completed applications due.

March 20, 2025: Grades K–8 Admissions decisions posted on Ravenna (after 12:00 pm)

March 21, 2025: Grades 9–12 Admissions decisions posted on Ravenna (after 4:00 pm)

Sibling and Employee Families

Kindergarten and Grade 6 Applicants Only*

Families with a child currently enrolled at Head-Royce (sibling families) and children of Head-Royce faculty/staff (employee families) who wish to apply for Kindergarten or Grade 6 are given early decision consideration and notification in the Head-Royce admission process. Sibling/employee family applicants must meet the following deadlines for this special consideration. We do not offer early consideration and notification for any other grades.*

Important Dates and Deadlines:

October 17, 2024: Kindergarten sibling/employee preliminary application form and application fee must be submitted in Ravenna.

November 1, 2024: Kindergarten applicant preschool recommendation and parent statement due.

November 9, 2024: Kindergarten Assessment for sibling and employee applicants - Required.

November 21, 2024: Kindergarten sibling/employee family decisions may be available.

December 1, 2024: Grade 6 sibling/employee preliminary application form and application fee must be submitted in Ravenna.

January 9, 2024: Grade 6 sibling/employee family completed applications due.

January 11, 2025: Middle School Activity Day (Grade 6 applicants only) - Required.

January 31, 2025: Grade 6 sibling/employee family decisions may be available.

* Please Note: we are not able to offer early consideration and notification for other grades due to limited space availability in those grades. If you are a sibling or employee applying for a grade other than Kindergarten or Grade 6, please follow the regular application process and deadlines.
