‑Royce EducationSocioeconomic diversity is an important part of the Head‑Royce community. Different perspectives and experiences deepen conversations, broaden understanding, and enrich learning for every student.
We offer need-based tuition assistance to make a Head‑Royce education accessible to families across a wide range of financial circumstances. More than a quarter of our students receive tuition assistance, with more than $8 million awarded each year.

Tuition covers most school-related costs, with the exception of textbooks, supplies, global education travel, food, and after-school care. Families may pay tuition in one payment, two payments, or through a nine-month payment plan.
Families come to Head‑Royce with a wide range of financial circumstances. If the full cost of tuition would place a strain on your family, we encourage you to explore tuition assistance and consider applying. You do not need to determine on your own whether you will qualify before starting the process.
‑RoyceTuition assistance is need-based and awarded as a grant that does not need to be repaid. Awards are based on each family’s demonstrated financial need and the availability of funds. Applying for tuition assistance has no bearing on admission decisions; the two processes are entirely separate.
Head‑Royce uses Clarity to manage tuition assistance applications. The online application takes less than 30 minutes to complete, is available in English and Spanish, and is mobile-friendly. New families will create a Clarity account to begin the application; returning families can use their existing credentials.
Tuition assistance applications are due January 4, 2027 for new families.
Each household must submit a separate application, including in cases of separated, divorced, or non-custodial parents, regardless of financial arrangements between households.
‑RoyceHead‑Royce is one of only four schools in California and 50 in the nation selected by the Malone Family Foundation to receive a $2 million endowment supporting academically gifted students with financial need.
