At Head‑Royce, we believe that how students learn matters as much as what they learn. Across all three divisions, our program is built on a simple conviction: young people learn best when they are challenged, supported, and given the opportunity to do real things in the world.
A 2nd grader spends a morning in the Collaboratory exploring identity through paint and conversation. A 4th grader interviews a 9th grader before designing a device to improve their daily life. A senior works alongside a community organization on a real civic problem. At every level, learning at Head‑Royce is active, purposeful, and connected to something larger than the classroom.
We take the whole child seriously... which means social-emotional learning is woven into every division, not treated as a separate program. It means investing in counselors, learning specialists, and wellness educators alongside great teachers. And it means preparing students not just for college, but for a future that will require creativity, empathy, and the willingness to keep trying when the first idea doesn't work.
This is a K–12 community, and that continuity matters. Seniors mentor freshmen. Upper Schoolers work alongside Lower Schoolers. The relationships and values that form in kindergarten are still present at graduation—and our graduates will tell you that's one of the things they remember most.
