Bus Information
Head-Royce offers two convenient bus options to make sure all of our students can get to school in a safe and convenient way: AC Transit has three public bus routes that serve Head-Royce, while Michael's Transportation is a private service subsidized by Head-Royce that has five routes across the East Bay.

Late Bus Procedures:
For Grades K-5: If your child's bus isn't at Head-Royce by 3:45 p.m., s/he will be directed to the After School Program and you will be notified via School Messenger.
For Grades 6-12: Students will remain inside the Gatehouse and you will be notified via phone call.

For the following year, the bus program—which is heavily subsidized by HRS—will cost:
1 student rider: $640
2 student riders: $800 per family
3 or more student riders: $960 per family
You also have the option to purchase single tickets or a bundle of 10 bus tickets, which is optimal for those who only ride the bus on occasion or would like a small supply of tickets available when accompanied home by a friend. Ticket bundles may be purchased from Mary Fahey in the Admissions Office.

Whether you're riding the bus every day, a couple of days or only once, everyone on the bus needs to have a bus ticket.

Please complete the Michael's Transportation sign-up form accessible via the yellow bar at the top of HRSConnect. Please note that once you submit the form, the Michael's charge will be added to your family's billing record.

All students can ride free and try out the routes until September 9, 2022.
Michael's Route Details
All buses will arrive to Head-Royce before 8:25 a.m. and depart at 3:30 p.m. If you need to contact Michael's Transportation Dispatch, call 707-643-2099.

Bus Safety
Your child's safety is of paramount importance to both Head-Royce School and Michael’s Transportation. Please observe the following bus safety guidelines:
- Parents are to supervise their child at the stop. Once on the bus, the driver becomes the supervisor.
- Parents may not get on the bus.
- Students are to follow the driver’s instructions at all times.

Make sure your student knows the name of their bus stop, and the names of those allowed to pick them up from the bus stop.

Parents may never stop in the street to meet the bus or park in "red zones." Legally park and wait at the stop with, or for, your child.

In the case of a bus accident, parents will be notified by the bus company or Head-Royce about appropriate safety measures. Michael’s Transportation has an excellent safety record and works collaboratively with the California Highway Patrol on all issues.
