Parking and Transportation

Head-Royce School is located in a residential neighborhood. To mitigate the impact of the school on our neighbors' quality of life and to keep the School in compliance with the City of Oakland's requirements, we have created a set of traffic and parking rules outlined below. Everyone who drives to campus must follow these transportation guidelines 24/7.

Transportation Guide

Transportation Guide

All members of the Head-Royce School community must demonstrate responsible and thoughtful citizenship 24/7––not just during drop-off and pick-up times––by following the set of traffic and parking rules outlined in our Transportation Policy Guide (TPG). Staff will be stationed along Lincoln Avenue and nearby cross streets to monitor driving and parking behavior. Violating these guidelines puts the school at risk of losing its permit to operate.

Drivers are advised to keep speeds slow (15–20 mph) on side streets and should yield to walkers and bikers at all times. If you need to reverse direction on Lincoln Avenue, please keep in mind that the use of private driveways is strictly forbidden. U-turns and y-turns are also forbidden. Thank you for helping to keep our neighborhood safe!

Walking and Biking

Walking and Biking

We encourage all the members of the Head-Royce School community to choose alternatives to driving to campus. This helps reduce traffic congestion on Lincoln Ave and can often be a faster option for student drop off and pick up. Additionally, the school offers P.E. credits for students who walk or bike to School.

Be sure not to block in other cars that are parked in the tandem parking spaces in Field Lot on the North Campus.
