Welcome to Head-Royce College Counseling!
Dear Students and Parents,
If you follow stories about college admissions in the media these days, the college application process might seem much more overwhelming than it actually has to be. In the college counseling office, we’re here to help! We will provide information, advice, and support to you and your family. Of course, the process won’t be without stress, but it doesn’t have to make you and your family crazy!
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
Ask questions. If you’re wondering about a particular college, how to approach an essay, or about any aspect of the admissions process (no matter how small), please come and talk to us.
Be Prepared. Plan ahead and allow yourself enough time to research colleges and review and revise all application materials. If you follow the program we have set out, families will be well-organized when the time comes to apply to college in the fall of senior year. There are tasks for students, tasks for parents and tasks for us as counselors. Together, we make a terrific team!
Communicate. The admissions process will go more smoothly for everyone if you keep the lines of communication open between parent, student and counselor.
We're here to tell you that you can do it! If you approach the admissions process thoughtfully and carefully and allow yourself the time you need to put your best foot forward, you’ll join the ranks of successful seniors in the spring. Really!
So, onward and upward, and be sure to let us know how we can be of assistance to you in the process.
Warmly,
Kate Augus and Carrie Horsey
