Phebe is a pioneer. A one-time American record holder in swimming, and the first woman full professor at Williams College, she credits “Heads” with providing an environment that both supported her athletic aspirations and nurtured her academic potential. Head-Royce provided the foundation for her record setting journey.

“Heads taught me how to study. Going from a small class of 35 to UC Berkeley, knowing how to study made all the difference in the world. In addition to being academically demanding, my classes nurtured my curiosity about academic subjects and about the world in general."
