Updated October 2012
Dear Head-Royce Families:
As you know, Head-Royce School attracts students from all corners of the East Bay. Getting to and from school, especially for families that live beyond the Oakland Hills neighborhoods, usually means getting in the car and fighting traffic – and often two round trips per day.
Instead, why not consider a low-cost, convenient and environmentally friendly alternative to driving to and from school?
For many years, Michael’s Transportation has provided safe and reliable bus service to Head-Royce families. This year we’ve extended the service routes and significantly lowered the price to encourage more families to take the bus instead of driving.
Fact is, three out of four students travel to and from school by car. A recent study conducted by the Head-Royce Green Council (a coalition of concerned students, faculty and staff), showed that transportation is the single largest component of carbon emissions related to school operations.
So with the support of our Board of Trustees, the Parent’s Association Executive Board and the Green Council, we’ve capped the annual fee at $500 per family for the entire year (siblings ride at no additional cost). That’s only about $1.45 per trip, which means riding one of Michael’s private coaches directly to school actually costs less than AC Transit.
More specifics and billing information are linked below. Reserve your space(s) by signing up soon.
Save money, save time and save the planet by taking the bus to school.
Cost: $450 per family, per year (Pro-rated for October start)
