Quyen Vo '03 was the guest speaker at this year's
Big Night Out benefit.
On a special evening on Sunday, May 20, Head-Royce School parents, alumni, faculty, and friends showed their support for the Heads Up academic enrichment program. At the conclusion of dinner, during "Paddles Up for Heads Up," $35,000 was raised in a period of just 30 minutes.
Now in its twenty-fifth year, Heads Up is a partnership between Head-Royce and the Oakland Unified School District. The program provides tuition-free academic support and enrichment for underserved middle school students, and prepares them for lives of academic success and civic engagement. Since its inaugural year in 1987, Heads Up has served more than 700 middle school students.
