Your support and generosity keep the Head-Royce School tradition of giving alive and help our supported programs continue to do great things.
Our current giving options appear below.
Head-Royce Annual Fund, 2010-2011 :: Goal $1,000,000
The Annual Fund is the annual fundraising program that helps balance the annual operating budget of approximately $20 million and is the School's top fundraising priority.
In 2009-2010 the Annual Fund raised more than $848,000 from our broad community. We value gifts of all sizes as we strive for high levels of participation from all of our constituencies and 100% participation from our current parents, faculty and staff. Every dollar from every donor makes a difference!
Heads Up, 2010-2011 :: Goal $200,000
The Heads Up Program is a partnership between Head-Royce and the Oakland Unified School District. Heads Up is a rigorous, year-round academic enrichment program for over 90 motivated, low-income public school youth. The program is free to students.
Class Legacy Funds :: Goal Ongoing Support for EndowmentIn 2003 Head-Royce established a new tradition with the creation of endowed legacy funds honoring each new graduating class. Over the past six years Classes 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 have raised more than $600,000 to support faculty, students, and programs at Head-Royce School. These legacy funds grow in perpetuity and provide annual support. Alumni, parents and friends can help these funds grow through additional contributions.
Senior Class Fund, 2010:: Goal $100,000
We ask that senior class parents help build the School's endowment by contributing to the Class of 2010 Fund. For senior parents with additional children at Head-Royce, we ask that they consider splitting their gift between the Annual Fund and the endowed Class of 2010 Fund.
Chapman Campaign for Distinguished Scholarship :: Goal Ongoing Support for Endowment Scholarship
Now completing his 26th year at Head-Royce, Head of School Paul Chapman will
retire in June 2010. In his name, Head-Royce has launched a special, academic-year
campaign. The Campaign will provide
endowed scholarship dollars in order to attract outstanding students who
otherwise could not attend Head-Royce. The next $100,000 raised through
the Chapman Campaign for the Chapman Endowed Scholarship Fund will qualify for
a 2:1 match thanks to a generous $200,000 matching grant from the S.D. Bechtel,
Jr. Foundation, and past trustee/parents Laurie and Alan Dachs. Pledges to the Chapman Campaign must be made
by June 30, 2010 and fulfilled by June 30, 2011. New gifts received by June 30,
2010 that are made to any other Head-Royce endowed scholarship fund (e.g., the
Nia Scholarship, Class of 2010 Fund, or any named scholarship fund) also will
count toward the Campaign, but these gifts will not be matched by the challenge
grant.
The Nia Endowed Scholarship Fund :: Goal: Ongoing Support
Since
its inception in 2003, the endowed Nia Scholarship Fund has raised more than
$180,000 for endowed scholarships awarded to students of color. Part of the Nia program includes a hosted annual speakers event that is open to the Head-Royce and greater
Oakland community. This year's speakers event, planned for Friday, February 5, will feature Dr. Harry Edwards, Professor of Sociology Emeritus at the University of California at Berkeley.
Building on Excellence: The Campaign for the 21st Century :: Goal: Ongoing Support
"Building
on Excellence: The Campaign for the 21st Century" will help to fund
campus-wide improvements as outlined in Head-Royce School's new 15-year
Master Plan.
The Endowment Program :: Goal: Ongoing Support
We view annual fund gifts as "money to live by" and endowment gifts as "money to grow by." Growing the Head-Royce endowment continues to be among the top priorities set by the Board of Trustees. Because the endowment's principal is invested in perpetuity, the School receives its support from an annual distribution of earned income from each endowed fund. These dollars benefit the fund's designated purpose. Donors may contribute to the general endowment or direct their gifts in a variety of ways, such as student scholarships, faculty professional development, facilities and technology. In recent years, Head-Royce has raised more than $12 million in cash and pledges for the Endowment Program.
