A Bay Area School
Students come from Berkeley, Oakland, Alameda, Orinda, and over 30 other communities in the East Bay and beyond to attend HRS. We also enroll international exchange students in the Upper School.
The school follows a semester system which includes a winter break, February break, spring break, and a summer vacation.
In the Lower School, kindergarten meets from 8:25 a.m. to 2 p.m. and grades 1-5 meet from 8:25 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. The After-School Program is available for Lower and Middle School students until 6 p.m. each day that school is in session. Kindergarten tuition includes the After-School Program between 2-3:20 p.m. each day.
In the Middle and Upper Schools, classes meet four times each week from 8:25 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., Monday through Friday. Each class meets for a total of four times each week: three times a week for 45 minutes and one long block of 90 minutes.
Class of 2016 Profile
The Class of 2016 had 22 National Merit Commended Scholars and eight National Merit Scholarship semi-finalists.
